Kai Johnson, LMHC, LMFT
Kai has 40 years of experience working in the addiction and mental health field. He still finds his passion in helping those that continue to suffer.
As a 67-year-old recovering addict, Kai became a counselor by chance, not intent. While he was in early recovery, others began asking him questions about alcoholism, the difficulties of recovery, and his methods of success. He answered these questions and realized he was very comfortable doing so, thus the beginning of his new career. He decided he needed to learn more about the science of addiction and pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master of Science Degree in Substance Abuse Counseling, Prevention, and Education. Kai received his LMHC and LMFT, along with a substance abuse MAC and MCAP, to have better answers. This also helped him in his own recovery.
Additionally, Kai has worked for 15 years with chronic illness for an AIDS organization. He ha also worked for the US Army for nine years, working with soldiers and families with PTSD, chronic pain, TBI and co-occurring mental health issues.
