Funmi Shodeko, LMHC
Funmi recently joined the Wellness Resource Center clinical team as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, a certification in Women’s Studies from Florida International University, and earned a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. Funmi has worked in inpatient, outpatient, and residential treatment settings, and within the homeless shelter community. It was there that she utilized numerous modalities and theories, and developed an eclectic style and approach, to mental health care. She also has experience working with pregnant teens dealing with substance abuse and behavioral health issues.
Funmi is passionate about helping individuals recover from addiction, and applies motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and solution focused therapy in her work. Her goal is to help patients discover self-compassion, empowerment, and their inner strength. During her free time Funmi enjoys cooking, reading, travelling, and spending time with her family.
