Family Involvement

At Wellness Resource Center, we realize that recovery doesn’t happen in isolation. Addiction and mental health issues take a toll on the entire family, not just the patient. A strong social support network and meaningful relationships invariably lead to less frequent episodes of relapse and greater motivation to succeed. Our goal is to educate, support, and assist everyone involved in striving towards independence, self-fulfillment, and a sense of hope for the future.

Prior to admission, our family therapist will speak with family members or significant others about treatment goals, family participation, and visitation. During treatment, the therapist is available by phone and email to update family members on their loved one’s progress and to provide therapy sessions for the family.

Wellness Resource Center - Family TherapyWe also invite every family to attend our Family Recovery Weekend, offered every 60 days, where we introduce family members to some of the services we provide at Wellness Resource Center. During the weekend, families receive education and support from other families and take part in sober living activities with their loved ones. Through traditional, expressive, and holistic therapy sessions and Al-Anon meetings, family members learn about their role in the recovery process, how best to support their loved one through treatment, and how to set goals of their own.

We encourage family members to spend some time focusing on their own needs, allowing themselves to be nurtured and guided toward healthier relationships.
