FAQs
Do you have a waiting list?
Wellness Resource Center runs a wait list at times for its dual diagnosis treatment program, but not on a continual basis. Call (866)575-8179 for more information on availability.
What is the minimum length of stay?
We offer a variable length of stay, depending on each patient’s particular needs and the appropriate level of care.
What are your policies with respect to phone, laundry, visiting, and personal items?
Clients are not permitted to use the phone during the first two weeks of addiction treatment, unless special exceptions are approved. Clients are responsible for doing their own laundry and may use the machines at the apartment complex free of charge. Visitation is on an individualized basis and will be facilitated by the family therapist and primary therapist working with the client and their family. Personal items will be discussed with the admissions coordinator prior to admission but in general, cell phones and laptops are not allowed, and iPods and CD players may be used only in an open setting (i.e., no headsets).
Do you have a dress code?
Comfortable, casual, conservative clothing is recommended.
Can you accommodate special diets?
Our patients prepare their own meals or arrange meal plans with their roommates.
We have a nutritionist who will develop meal plans for clients with special dietary needs.
Can clients watch TV?
There is cable television in each apartment that patients may watch during their free time.
What recreational activities are available to clients?
Wellness Resource Center clients may utilize the local gym and participate in program-sponsored activities such as going out to eat, bowling, watching movies, and visiting the beach. Our patients can participate in additional pre-approved, drug-free activities with their 12-step sponsor by requesting a pass.
Should clients bring spending money?
For patients who would like to bring spending money, we recommend using our Patient Trust Account for incidentals and recreation.
Can clients smoke while in treatment?
Patients may smoke cigarettes in designated smoking areas when time permits.
Do you offer detoxification services?
If detoxification is needed, clients will be referred to a local provider and will be transferred to Wellness Resource Center’s substance abuse treatment program upon completion.
Will you accept a client directly from a psychiatric hospital?
Clients may be transferred to Wellness Resource Center from a psychiatric hospital; however, our standard telephone assessment must be completed prior to admission in order to determine whether Wellness Resource Center is the best drug rehab program to meet the client’s needs.
Do I need to gather records from my current drug rehab center to transfer to Wellness Resource Center?
Clients should obtain records from their most recent drug rehab program, if applicable.
Prior to admission, all clients must obtain a recent blood laboratory work-up, medical clearance to participate in addiction treatment, and a TB/PPD test.
What medications do you use?
Psychoactive medications that have potential for abuse are contraindicated for use with dual diagnosis clients. Medications such as benzodiazepines, methadone, suboxone, and other mind/mood-altering substances are prohibited. Psychotropic medications, which have no addictive properties, may be prescribed on an as needed basis. Clients may bring their prescription medication(s) in their original prescription bottle, subject to oversight by the medical director.
Where are medications kept and how are they dispensed?
Clients self-administer their prescription medication, which they refill on a daily basis. Supervision is provided for those who struggle with noncompliance.
How many meetings do patients get with a therapist?
Clients in our addiction treatment program meet with their individual therapist at least once a week, or as needed throughout the week. In addition, clients meet regularly with our psychiatrist and therapists in group sessions.
How many AA/NA/GA meetings do clients attend per week?
All clients attend 12-step meetings in the community seven days a week.
Do you have a psychiatrist on staff?
Wellness Resource Center has a psychiatrist on staff who specializes in treating dually diagnosed clients. Each client receives an initial psychiatric evaluation and regular meetings with the doctor.
Can you coordinate psychological testing for clients while they are in treatment?
Wellness Resource Center has a staff psychologist who meets with clients for an initial psychological evaluation as well as weekly sessions throughout treatment for their drug or alcohol problem.
What kinds of tests do clients receive upon admission?
All clients receive a psychiatric, psychological, and substance abuse evaluation, plus additional testing based on individual needs.
What medical conditions would exclude someone from participating in your program?
Any chronic or serious medical condition that would require ongoing attention may be considered a deterrent for admission.
Will clients receive a refund if they leave treatment early?
If a client leaves prior to the completion of addiction treatment, the financially responsible party will be refunded a pro-rated amount.
Will my insurance cover addiction treatment?
It depends on each patient’s particular insurance plan and coverage. Insurance benefits will be verified before the time of admission, and the cost of substance abuse treatment will be billed accordingly.
Is the program accredited?
Wellness Resource Center is accredited by CARF and the State of Florida Department of Children and Families.
