Treatment Schedule

Wellness Resource Center provides intensive treatment for dual diagnosis clients in a highly structured environment. Our patients follow a consistent daily schedule of core activities and substance abuse treatment groups, five days a week, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Formal treatment usually ends between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. We offer traditional clinical therapies such as group and individual therapy, as well as life skills training, trauma resolution group, expressive art therapy, spirituality group, and more.

In addition to our regular treatment schedule, clients attend 12-step meetings in the community seven days a week. Once patients obtain a sponsor, they may request a pass to participate in pre-approved, drug-free activities outside our drug rehab facility. Wellness Resource Center clients also are free to utilize the local gym and participate in program-sponsored activities such as going out to eat, bowling, watching movies, or visiting nearby Delray Beach. Patients also are encouraged to take morning meditation walks on the beach and get together with roommates and peers for Friday night dinners and Saturday afternoon activities of their choice.

Although we set clear rules and boundaries from the outset, patients may earn more freedom to spend free time with their sponsor or other sober contacts as they make advances in their recovery.

Daily Life

Clients begin their treatment day with morning routine and chores at the apartments, with wake-up time and supervision conducted by support counselors. Daily meditation follows and may be conducted on the beach, setting the tone for mindfulness, spirituality, and focus on recovery.

After being transported to the treatment facility in our vans, patients check in with staff and nursing. Three successive groups are held in the morning with a 10-minute break in between. Clients are driven back to the apartments for lunch and a brief time to process the morning’s therapy. Once transported back to the treatment facility, they participate in afternoon groups until 4:30, at which time they are driven to the apartments for a brief supervised free time before dinner. After dinner, all clients are transported to 12-step groups in the community, followed by a required study/assignment time back at the apartments. Lights are out by 11:00 p.m.

This daily schedule is conducted Monday through Friday. Weekend structure includes a process group at the apartments on Saturday morning and again on Sunday evening. Saturday morning scheduling also includes supervised maintenance and cleaning of the apartments. A planned and supervised group activity takes place on Saturday afternoon and is often a community choice made by the clients collectively. This may include lunch at a nearby restaurant, a movie, bowling, or time at the beach.

Clients who are approved by their therapist may be transported to a local gym several times a week at no additional charge and church on Sundays. After a certain length of time in treatment and pre-approval from their therapist, clients may leave on a pass with their designated sponsor for a brief time. Approval for recreational activities must be earned through motivation and participation in the treatment program.
