Ben Durgan

Business Development Representative

A native of Palm Beach County, Ben Durgan was born and raised in Boynton Beach, Florida and received a scholarship to play baseball at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. He played two seasons as a pitcher and first baseman for the FDU Knights, earning All‑NEC Honor Roll recognition his freshman year.

After two seasons with the Knights, Ben returned to Florida and enrolled at Florida State University, where he discovered his interests in law and politics and developed skills in writing and policy analysis. He graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and International Affairs, along with a minor in Business Entrepreneurship.

Interning at the State Capitol inspired Ben to pursue a career in politics, and he began working as a Legislative Aide in the Florida Senate in the summer of 2014. He spent more than five years in the Florida Legislature as a Chief of Staff, then transitioned into the private sector as the Director of Government Affairs and Communications for the Economic Council of Palm Beach County. Ben went on to spend another six years in public policy and lobbying at both the state and federal levels, advocating for healthcare issues related to substance abuse and mental health—work that became even more meaningful as he began his own personal journey of recovery.

Ben’s lived experience and commitment to helping others struggling with behavioral health challenges led him to change career paths. He is now the Business Development Representative for Wellness Resource Center and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Non‑Profit Management at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Ben is honored to serve WRC and Acadia Healthcare as we continue providing compassionate care that improves lives, inspires hope, and strengthens communities.
